Built around how a cabinet actually gets assembled.
A cabinet hardware kit is rarely a single homogeneous count. A base cabinet kit and a wall cabinet kit share a screw and a shelf pin but diverge everywhere else — different hinge plates, different drawer slide counts, different cam lock quantities for a different case depth. Running them as one part number produces overstuffed bags and returns; running them as separate SKUs on a six-channel line is straightforward, because a changeover is a bowl swap and a recipe, not a rebuild.
Most RTA and frameless programs land between three and five discrete components per bag: cam locks and cam bolts, 8 mm dowels, shelf pins, euro screws, and a bracket or clip. All five feed cleanly from vibratory bowls, all five count on fiber optics, and all five clear the inline checkweigher on every bag. Confirmat and euro screws in particular are the easiest parts we run — consistent head geometry, consistent mass, no nesting.
Sub-kits beat one big bag.
The single most useful thing we tell cabinet customers: when a kit exceeds six distinct part numbers, do not force it. Split it by assembly station. A drawer bag with the slide screws and cam hardware, a hinge bag with the plates and euro screws, and a shelf-pin bag with the pins and any clips. Three simple bags run faster than one complex one, cost less per component, and — more importantly — land at the bench where the parts are actually used, so the assembler is not digging through a mixed bag for the third time that hour.
Sub-kitting also protects your count accuracy in the field. When a shortage does occur, it is contained to one station and one bag, not to an entire cabinet that has already been boxed. Each sub-kit carries its own lot code and date code from the Markem-Imaje overprinter, so a warranty claim traces to a specific run rather than to a month of production.
What it costs, and what it takes to start.
Cabinet kits price on the same per-bag tiers as everything else: $0.52 per bag from 5,000 to 25,000 annually, $0.42 to 100,000, $0.35 to 300,000, and $0.30 above that. Film, sealing, 100% checkweighing, lot coding, and bulk carton pack-out are inside the number. Hardware is either yours or sourced by MGD at cost plus — most cabinet shops with established supplier pricing ship their own components in.
To start, send the bill of materials for one cabinet SKU and a handful of real parts. We run a first article, you approve the physical bag in writing, and production follows. A 5,000 bag run is about a shift on the line; 25,000 is roughly six.
